6TH SAF SCOUT FRIENDSHIP CAMP- BANGLADESH.
Dear
Sir/Madam,
We are happy to inform you
that that the Bangladesh Scouts is hosting the 6th SAF Scout
Friendship Camp which will be held on 12-18 October 2008 in Mouchak, Gazipur,
Bangladesh.
Below are the basic information of the 6th
SAF Scout Friendship Camp:

12th to 18th October, 2008 All participants are expected to arrive at Dhaka
on 11 or latest by 12 October 2008 in the morning and depart from Dhaka on
the afternoon of 18 October 2008. |
Venue
|
National Scout Training Centre, Mouchak, Gazipur,
Bangladesh. National Scout Training Centre, Mouchak has been
selected as the venue of the 6th SAF Scout Friendship Camp.
Mouchak is located some 40 Kilometres west of and an hour drive from Dhaka. |

Participants |
Each State is requested to send willing Senior
Scouts/Rovers & Senior Guides/Rangers aged between 16-25 years old and
good at Hindi & English communication. The participants should
preferably be President Scouts/Rovers and President Guides/Rangers but not
below the rank of Rajya Puraskar Scout/Guide / Nipun Rover/Ranger. Equal number of participants from
Scout/Rover and Guide/Ranger sections be recommended so that there is equal
representation of both. |
Final Selection
|
Final selection will be done by National
Commissioner at National Headquarters, Bharat Scouts & Guides, New Delhi. |
Aim
|
The aim of the camp is to promote and strengthen
regional peace, solidarity and cooperation among the young people of South
Asia by providing them the opportunity to live together and engage in various
activities fostering friendship and mutual understanding. |
Theme
|
‘Scouting for Peace and Friendship’ |
|
Objectives |
The participants of the camp will be able to: ·
Share each other’s culture in a spirit of solidarity, while
discovering the rich culture and heritage of Bangladesh; ·
Enrich friendship with mutual understanding, tolerance and
cooperation to promote peace in
South Asia; ·
Create awareness among young people on Scouting in
South Asia; ·
Undertake leadership role for personal development; ·
Learn more on the social and environmental situation of
other countries of South Asia; ·
Make friends with other Scouts of South Asia; and ·
Have a better understanding about the function of
the South Asia Foundation. |
Methodology
|
The objectives of the 6th SAF Scout
Friendship Camp will be achieved through various Scout activities to be
organized during the camp. The activities will broadly be based on the
following key areas: ·
Youth Forum ·
Cultural Exchange and Cultural Exhibition ·
Social events and entertainment ·
Scout activities ·
Sports ·
Home hospitality |
Tentative Programme
|
The tentative programme of the 6th SAF
Scout Friendship Camp is briefly mentioned below: 11 Oct.2008
- Arrival by afternoon/evening flights/Road transport. 12 Oct. 2008 – Arrivals, camp setting, opening
rehearsal and test (Morning). Inauguration (Afternoon/Evening) 13-17 Oct.2008-Various programme activities,
educational tour, cultural programme. 18 Oct. 2008
-Closing ceremony (from 9:00 am to 11:00 am) Pack up and departure from 2:00 pm
onward. |

Food & Accommodation |
The participants will be served cooked food. They
will be accommodated in tents. Tents will be provided by Bangladesh Scouts. |
Weather
|
The average temperature in Mouchak during October
ranges from a minimum of 20 degree centigrade at night to a maximum of 30
degree centigrade during midday. |
Display
|
There will be a display center in the campsite.
Participants are requested to bring photographs and posters depicting Scout
activities of their own country. Other information regarding their country,
namely: culture, geography, history, currency, education, population, etc.,
will also be displayed. |
Cultural Show
|
Participants are requested to bring appropriate
clothing/dress/costumes depicting typical picture of their own country to
display items especially on cultural heritage. Participants must prepare one
cultural presentation, either in a form of dance or songs. |
What to bring
|
The participants are requested to bring Scout
uniform, National Flag, National Scout Flag, sleeping bag, personal kit,
light rain jackets, cades, trousers and other relevant camp items. |
Caution Money
|
Rs. 3000/- Bharat Scouts & Guides will bear the travel
and food expenses for this event. |

|
30th June 2008 |
You are requested to send
the nominations of the eligible participants on the prescribed proforma to the
National Headquarters, Bharat Scouts & Guides, New Delhi latest by 30th
June 2008.
