Sub:- Celebration of thinking day & World Brotherhood/Sisterhood Day-22nd February 2009.

Dear Sir/Madam,

Greetings & Best wishes from the National Headquarters, New Delhi, India.

A day of thought action and sharing is coming closer like every year. This year also let us celebrate the Joint Birthday of Lord & Lady Baden Powell on 22nd February 2009 with more commitment.

The world Thinking Day theme for 2009 is Girls World wide say “Stop the spread of AIDS, Malaria and other diseases”.

This message is the new theme for WAGGGS major annual global fundraising campaign, ‘World Thinking Day’. The theme is based on United Nations Millennium Development Goal 6.

WAGGGS is encouraging its members to start planning themed events in their communities in time for 22 February 2009, which is the traditional World Thinking Day. While being fun, inclusive and informative, these events will also raise money to contribute to the World Thinking Day fund and vital WAGGGS projects, including those aimed at addressing issues surrounding the spread of diseases.

For further information for world thinking day 2009 website www.worldthinkingday.org is open. Here you will find a variety of resources to help you prepare and celebrate. The website also has pages on which girls and leaders can have their say, propose programme ideas and give fund raising suggestions.

The funds raised will help the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts to expand develop and launch vital initiatives to tackle issues such as HIV/AIDS, food and nutrition and adolescent reproductive health and to support girls and young women throughout the world.

Therefore a small token of appreciation of your support will be highly appreciated. The fund collected will be sent to WAGGGS.

To make the celebration enjoyable and memorable you can organise camps, seminars, cartoons competitions and quiz or Guides and Scouts are also encouraged to join the call to a action for AIDS “Tell 10 girls 10 facts about AIDS”. The fact card is available on WAGGGS website www.wagggsworld.org. After the celebration on the above theme states are requested to send the reports with photographs.

Thinking day fund should be sent in the name of the Director, The Bharat Scouts & Guides, National Headquarters, New Delhi for onward transmission to WAGGGS.

                    Thanking you and with regards.

  Yours Sincerely,

    (Geeta Rawat)
