Sub:                 Postponement of 16th National Jamboree to be held at Shankarapally, Rangareddy District, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh from 06-12 November 2009.

Madam/ Sir,

 

            As you are aware that H1N1 Virus pandemic has spread all over the Country and fresh cases are being reported every now and then in the Hospitals. In view of the increasing incidence of the Virus, the State Chief Commissioner, Andhra Pradesh was consulted who obtained the opinion of the Principal Secretary, Health Department, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh, other concerned Doctors and Health workers about the possible impact of ‘Swine Flu’ on Jamboree. It was advised by them to postpone the Jamboree as children would be more susceptible to infection since the virus spreads fasts in winter and month of November will be vulnerable due to cool weather conditions. A copy of letter received from Mrs. Shalini Mishra, State Chief Commissioners, Andhra Pradesh State Bharat Scouts and Guides is enclosed for your perusal.

 

            The matter was examined in the National Headquarters and it has been decided in consultation with President, Bharat Scouts and Guides that in the interest of all Scouts/ Guides/ Rovers/ Rangers and other participants who will be a very big number in the  Jamboree to accede to the proposal of the State Chief Commissioner and postpone the XVI National Jamboree scheduled to be held at Shankarapally, Rangareddy District, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh from 06th to 12th November, 2009.

 

            Accordingly, it has been decided to postpone the XVI National Jamboree and dates for holding the Jamboree at a later period will be decided and conveyed to you afterwards.
