Dear Sir / Madam,
Jamboree on The Air is an annual event in which
500,000 Scouts & Guides all over the World make contact with each other by
means of Amateur Radio. It is a real Jamboree during which Scouting/Guiding
experiences are exchanged and ideas are shared, thus contributing to the World
Brotherhood of Scouting. Units may participate for 48 Hrs. or any part thereof
from Saturday 00.00 hrs. until Sunday 24.00 hrs. local time. It is for the
members of the World Organisation of the Scout Movement (WOSM) and also for the members of the World Associations of Girl
Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS).
This year 49th
J.O.T.A. will be held on 21st & 22nd OCTOBER- 2006.
Try to contact local HAMS in your
area and request them to arrange JOTA Station at a suitable place where
Cubs/Bulbuls/Scouts/Guides/Rovers/Rangers can assemble to enjoy their contacts
over HAM Radio
with friends from the other states as well as other countries.
The HAM Operator should have a
valid license and write to the ASSISTANT WIRELESS ADVISER for the permission to operate JOTA Station
for the Scouts/Guides. In India only licensed HAMs can operate Amateur Radio. But
during JOTA it is a
special privilege of Scouts & Guides to talk on HAM Radio.

The Assistant Wireless Adviser, WPC Wing, Department
of Telecommunication, Sanchar Bhawan, Ashoka Road, NEW DELHI with a
Demand Draft for Rs. 10/= (Rs. Ten Only) in favour of “ Pay and Accounts Officer,
Headquarters, Depart of Telecommunication”, State Bank Of India, Main
Branch, New Delhi. A copy of the letter may be sent to Director, Bharat Scouts
& Guides for follow up work:

HOW TO PROCEED?
Ask Radio Amateur to install
station
Call “ CQ Jamboree” or answer Scout
Station calling to establish a contact.
All Radio Stations must observe
the National Amateur Radio Regulation. Any authorised frequency given may be
used.
All the JOTA Station
Organisers are requested to maintain a record of stations contacted and operators
call sign & Name and the Country/State/Station.
Your report should reach to the
Director, Bharat Scouts & Guides alongwith the list of the participants,
photographs, reports, news paper cuttings etc. before 30th October
2006. National Headquarter will issue a participation certificate on receipt of
the list of participants. (Late receipts are not acceptable).
