Sub: National level competition on Leprosy on October 2nd 2007.

 

Dear Sir/Madam,

 

The 2nd October, the Birthday of Bapuji, the Father of Nation is observed as Anti Leprosy Day. You all know that The Bharat Scouts & Guides is having partnership programme with The Leprosy Mission Trust India from 2003 onwards. In the past years we conducted many programmes where the resource persons of TLM took session on leprosy awareness. They also distributed different kinds of literatures to all our Scouts & Guides.

The programme is organised at the national level every year to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The Father of Nation was the torchbearer of organised leprosy eradication works in India.

Like in 2006, this year also a national level competition has been planned in partnership with TLM. The Bharat Scouts & Guides schools students are suppose to depict like Gandhiji (with costumes) and make a speech (Hindi or English) on Leprosy in 5 minutes at all levels of competition. Semifinal round of contest will be held on Oct 1,2007 at Bharat Scouts & Guides Auditorium in Delhi.

 

The contest will be as follows:

1.     The contest will be conducted first at the school level.

2.     Then the contest will be conducted at the district and state level.

3.     From each state the best Scout or Guide will be sent with his/her Scouter/Guider to Bharat Scouts & Guides Auditorium, New Delhi to participate in the semifinal round on October 1,2007.

4.     Five finalists selected through the semifinal will again perform on Oct 2nd.

5.     There will be a Rolling Trophy for the first winning State. Besides these, all the five finalists will be given prizes. Consolation prizes will be given to the state representatives. Special prizes will be awarded to the escorts (Scouter/Guiders) of the first three winners.

6.     Each Scout/Guide selected from State along with Scouter/Guider will be given Second Class Train Fare and Bus fare (all actual with concession) from Hometown to Delhi and back by the TLM. Accommodation also will be given at Delhi for two days.

 

The state is requested to supervise the contest as per the programme given below.

 

Direct To Home Leprosy Awareness

 

I Revived The Mahatma

 

Programme: National level competition for school students.

 

Objectives: To create awareness among school students on leprosy with regard to stigma, discrimination and treatment.

 

Competition: Bharat Scouts & Guides School Students have to depict like Gandhiji and make an extempore speech on leprosy. Through different stages of competition the national winner would be selected and awarded.

 

Flow Chart

The competition would be organised at different levels to select the best presentation.

 

Stage-I

Intra School Competition- Inter house competition within a school to select the Best School Representative. In-charge, District Bharat Scouts & Guides officer.

 

 

Stage-II

Inter School Competition- The best school representatives will compete with each other to select the Best District Representative. In- charge, District Bharat Scouts & Guides officer.

 

 

Stage-III

Inter District Competition – The best district representatives will contest among themselves to select the Best State Representative. In- charge, State Bharat Scouts & Guides officer.

 

Stage-IV

Inter State Competition – The best state representatives will perform in Delhi in the semi-final round to select the best Final Representatives. In-charge,

Bharat Scouts & Guides, Headquarters and The Leprosy Mission Media Centre.

 

State-V

Final Competition – The finalists will perform on October 2,2007 in an auditorium. The best state adjudged will receive the rolling Trophy. In-charge,

Bharat Scouts & Guides, Headquarters and The Leprosy Mission Media Centre.

 

Special Note: The State is requested to send the name of the winner (Scout/Guide) and their escort with their date of birth and complete postal address, telephone No, etc on or before September 20, 2007 to Jt.Director (G) by fax/e-mail/Speed Post.

Guidelines:

 

1.     The participant should be a school student (Certificate\Proof required).

2.     The participant at all different stages has to depict like Gandhiji and deliver an extempore speech on leprosy in a time period of 5 minutes.

3.     The speech should be either in English or Hindi.

4.     The criteria of marking would be- content of speech, acting, resemblance to Gandhiji, dress and overall presentation.

5.     The first three stages will be conducted in the supervision of Bharat Scouts & Guides State Commissioner\State Secretary\Deputed Officer. Their role would be to get the best state representative by conducting the competition at the district and school level.

6.     The first three stages should be completed and informed at Bharat Scouts & Guides Headquarters and TLM Media Centre before September 20,2007.

7.     The best state representatives will be competing at the national level-Semi final round on October 1,2007 at the Bharat Scouts & Guides headquarters, Delhi to select the finalists.

8.     The final round will be held in an auditorium in Delhi on Oct 2, 2007.

9.     A rolling trophy would be awarded to the national winner (best State representatives).

10. A special prize would be given to the escort (teacher\parents) of the first three participants at the national level.

Travel cost (Second Class- Sleeper) of the participant and the escort to Delhi for the national round of competition, prizes and the cost towards organizing the final day programme will be borne by the TLM Media Centre.
