REMINDER - I
We would like to bring to
your kind notice that till this date, we have not received any entries/Log
Books for the Lakshmi Mazumdar Award for the year 2005-2006. Hence, we request
you to kindly send the Entries/Log Book
as early as possible on or before 10th Sept. 2006. The Award and the
Certificates will be presented during the National Council Meeting 2006. Those
who are already registered completed the logbook along with the recommendation
of the entry form should forward.
In this connection, we are
enclosing herewith the Guideline and Entry Form for kind needful. Late entries
will not be accepted for any reason.

The Lakshmi
Mazumdar Award is for: -
Outstanding involvement in
the Community – common for Scout and Guide Wing. This can be:
Ø A Community Service or
Community Development Project organised by the Registered Units of the Bharat
Scouts & Guides in the Locality.
Ø A long term or a short term
project
Ø A small or a large project
Ø Within the country
The National Award to honour
the memory of the Ex-National Commissioner Mrs. Lakshmi Mazumdar and to keep
alive her contribution to the movement and her belief in the spirit of Service.
Nomination for
entries for the Lakshmi Mazumdar Award: - Close on 31st July
It
is now time to start preparing your nominations. There must be at least one
company/team or Troop/Crew in every State, which is carrying out a successful,
need, based Community Development or Community Service Project. This
prestigious National award is meant to encourage and motivate Scouts/Guides to
render Yeoman Service to the development of community.
The Lakshmi Mazumdar Award
must be a spontaneous and sustained effort with no expectation of recognition.
Guide Company and Ranger Team
and Scout Troop and Rover Crew.
Nomination
may be made by the District Chief Commissioner through the State Chief
Commissioner without the knowledge of the Group and be sent to the National
Headquarters.
Nomination may be made on the attached form (Appendix-2). If the space
is not sufficient for the full description of the project, please give details
on a separate sheet, which may be attached to Appendix-2. Supporting
recommendation form the responsible persons both within and outside the
Movement must be sent with the entries. Only ONE entry from each section of
both the wings separately i.e. Scout, Guide and Rover, Ranger must reach
National Headquarters before 31st July every year.
By a Panel of 5 Judges
appointed by the National Commissioner.
Ø A certificate will be
presented to the each winning Group/Unit and a copy to be presented to the
State Association at the next National Council Meeting for retention in the
SHQ.
Ø Unit Leaders and
participants of the winning units will get the certificate signed by the
National Commissioner of the Association.
Ø A certificate of recognition
will be awarded to each group entry for the Lakshmi Mazumdar Award in tribute
to the outstanding service rendered to the community by the Group.
Ø Announcement of the winner
will be made in November each year and certificates will be presented in the
National Council Meeting.
